Advani and I will always be together: Vajpayee

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee said on Friday there were no differences between him and his deputy Lal Kishenchand Advani.

Vajpayee, who was addressing a National Democratic Alliance rally in New Delhi, said, "I was asked to speak. I wanted Advani to speak... I hope there will not be a headline tomorrow that Advani did not speak."

Referring to reports that there was a power struggle between him and Advani, he said, "Mountains are being made of molehills. We have worked together and will continue to do so. I ask the press to be careful."

"We will walk together, speak together and face challenges together," he said.

Regarding the press conference he could not attend in Lucknow on Sunday, he said, "I cancelled it because of a throat problem. The next day I see reports in the newspapers that Vajpayee ran away [without speaking to dissident BJP legislators] from Lucknow. Lucknow is my constituency. Why should I run from there? But newspapers want eye-catching headlines."

In a philosophical tone, he said, "You cannot do big things with a small heart."
