US is not our god, Farooq tells Centre

National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah on Friday accused the United States of dictating terms to India and asked the Centre to take tough decisions.

"America is not our god that it will say do this or that. Why should we do it? Are we slaves? Those days are gone," Abdullah said.

The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir was addressing at a rally in New Delhi, which was called to commemorate completion of three years of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government.

"The government should not talk to Pakistan till it stops terrorism permanently," he said.

"I know difficulties will come. But if we do not face these, then we cannot do anything for India," Abdullah said.

Referring to the 23-party NDA, he said it was not easy to run a coalition government when "some say do this some say do that".

All Muslims of the country were Indians, he said, adding they "should not be looked upon with suspicion, as due to this the country cannot move ahead".
