Seven held in Godhra bus blast

The Vadodara police has detained seven people suspected to be involved in Tuesday's blast in a State Transport bus at the Godhra main bus depot.

Inspector General of police [Vadodara range] Deepak Swaroop on Wednesday said the blast, triggered by a pipe bomb, had left six people injured.

Hospital sources said the condition of 27-year-old Saukatali Gafurbhai, who was critically injured in the blast, is stable.

Security in the town and the suburbs has been intensified following tension in the communally sensitive areas, the inspector general said.

A massive search operation has been launched particularly in buses plying in sensitive cities and towns of Godhra, Ahmedabad and Vadodara as a precautionary measure to prevent such incidents.
