Foundation plaque of East Central Railway zone stolen

Unidentified miscreants have stolen the foundation plaque laid by Union Railway Minister Nitish Kumar at the newly inaugurated East Central Railway zone headquarters in Hajipur, Bihar.

Police suspect the supporters of a rival political party to be involved. "It was stolen by some unidentified anti-social elements by badly damaging the wall supporting the plaque," they said.

The incident got a political colour after a line in Hindi was found written on the damaged wall supporting former railway minister Ram Vilas Paswan. It said, "Ram Vilas ka naam nahi to koi nahi (No one can take credit if not Paswan)."

Nitish Kumar's Samata Party leaders immediately blamed Paswan's Lok Jan Shakti Party for the incident.

Paswan had laid the foundation plaque for the ECR zonal office when he was minister, but railway officials removed it on the pretext of facilitating construction work. They later had the plaque fixed to the wall of the existing main building of the ECR zonal office to avoid political controversy.

ECR officials, without naming the Lok Jan Shakti Party, hinted at the possibility of Nitish Kumar's rivals having removed the second plaque to score over the removal of Paswan's plaque.
