Major administrative reshuffle in Bihar

In a major administrative reshuffle, the Bihar government has transferred 20 Indian Police Service officers and three district magistrates.

The transfer notification was issued late Saturday evening after state Home Commissioner U N Panjiyar and other officers had a meeting with Chief Minister Rabri Devi, an official release said in Patna.

Police chiefs of Bhojpur, Purnia, Munger, Sheikhpura, Banka, Bagaha, Araria, Bettiah, Jehanabad, Buxar, Madhubani and Darbhanga were shifted. District magistrates of Samastipur, Aurangabad and Araria were also replaced, the repease said.

Central and state intelligence agencies had warned the Bihar government about the possibility of increase in activities of Maoists and infiltration of terrorists, sources said.
