Mumbai blast accused arrested in Porbandar

The Porbandar police in Gujarat have arrested one Babu Mian, allegedly involved in the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts, police officials in Ahmedabad said on Thursday.

Mian, who had been absconding since the incident and is wanted under Terrorists and Disruptive (Preventive) Act, including the Explosives Act, was nabbed on Tuesday, the officials said.

Acting on a tip off that he would be visiting his house, the crime branch personnel at Porbandhar kept a vigil and nabbed him on his arrival.

The police said that Mian acted as a courier for transporting RDX explosives used for the blast.

The crime branch and the Mumbai police are jointly interrogating Mian, sources said.
