India, Croatia pledge partnership in fight against terrorism

Speaking after a ceremonial reception in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, Croatia's President Stejpan Mesic and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee asserted that the two nations are partners in the international coalition.

The Croatian leader said he would discuss many other subjects, like strengthening of bilateral ties, with his Indian counterparts.

Mesic, accompanied by several ministers and 20 prominent Croatian businessmen, is on a five-day visit to India. He will participate in joint business meetings being organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi and Mumbai. He will visit Agra and Jodhpur also.

President A P J Abdul Kalam and Vajpayee who received the Croatian leader recalled the traditional ties between the two countries when Croatia was part of Yugoslavia.

During the Croatian president's visit, the two countries will sign agreements on cooperation in agriculture and export credit and explore ways to further consolidate their economic and political ties.
