The cyclone threat to south coastal Andhra Pradesh has receded with the Meteorological Department issuing the de-warning for Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur and Krishna districts on Monday.
"The system is a depression only. It is not a cyclonic storm. It has slightly moved in a north-easterly direction and was located 350 kms east, northeast of Chennai coast on Monday afternoon," Hyderabad Meteorological Centre director Dr CVV Bhadram told rediff.com on Monday evening.
"It is likely to intensify and continue to move in a north, north-easterly direction skirting the coast for some time. Since it is moving parallel to the coast, we have issued de-warning for south-coastal Andhra," he said.
The forecast is light to moderate rainfall at many places over coastal Andhra and isolated rains over Rayalaseema. Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur in East and West Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts in north coastal Andhra in the next 48 hours. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Telangana region.
