Pakistan refuses to take the bodies of Ansal Plaza terrorists

Pakistan on Saturday evening refused to take custody of the bodies of the alleged terrorists killed in the Ansal Plaza shootout saying they were not its nationals.

The Ministry of External Affairs had called the Pakistan's Charge d' Affaires Jaleel Abbas Jilani to take up the matter with his government and 'ascertain if they were willing to accept the bodies for final rites.'

Jilani said, "We reject the Indian contention that the so-called terrorists were Pakistani nationals." He termed the incident as a 'fake encounter' saying that they do not accept the evidence 'invented' by the Delhi police.

Jilani was told that the two were identified on the basis of scrutiny of diaries
recovered from them, a MEA spokesperson said.

Sources said they anticipated such a response from Pakistan considering its past refusal of accepting the bodies of their soldiers killed in the Kargil conflict and of the terrorists killed in the Parliament attack.
