Chhath celebrated with
religious fervour in Bihar

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

Millions of Hindus across Bihar offered prayers to the Sun God on Sunday on river banks to mark the Chhath puja.

In Patna alone, over 200,000 people gathered on the ghats of the river Ganga.

Similar but smaller congregations were reported in Gaya, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur, where devotees offered prayers on the banks of Falgu, Ganga and Gandak rivers.

Prayers were also offered near ponds, canals and water tanks.

Pandals erected by Chhath festival organisers added colour and glamour to the celebrations.

Elaborate security arrangements were made on river banks by district administrations and voluntary groups.

Chief Minister Rabri Devi offered puja at her official residence.
