Train runs over seven labourers in Visakhapatnam

Seven railway gangmen [labourers] were killed and three seriously injured when a train ran over them in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.

According to police officials, the Koraput-Visakhapatnam Express hit the labourers, who were employed through a contractor, working on the track near Pendurthy railway station around 1600 IST.

The train was stopped for a while at Pendurthy. Rail traffic remained unaffected.

Police and railway officials had reached the spot and started investigations.
