No talks till Pakistan stops terror: PM

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Monday said there would be no talks with Pakistan till it stops cross-border terrorism.

"Till terrorist activities continue, dialogue will have no meaning," Vajpayee said before departing for a five-day visit to Cambodia and Laos.

He was responding to a question on the prospects of resumption of talks with Pakistan and his attending the South Asian Association for Regional Summit in Islamabad in the wake of a police encounter in Delhi on Sunday in which two terrorists were killed.

He said police was alert and that is why they were able to gun down the two terrorists.

"Today terrorist strike can take place anywhere and anytime," he cautioned.

Asked to comment on the political crisis in Uttar Pradesh, Vajpayee said it would be resolved soon.

He also greeted people on the occasion of Diwali.
