Militants boarded bus near J&K border: Himachal CM

Onkar Singh in New Delhi

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Tuesday said that the terrorists who attacked the army camp in Kalochak near Jammu had boarded a state transport undertaking bus when it entered the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The bus was on its way to Jammu form Manali, he said.

"From the information available with us so far, we know that the terrorists, wearing army fatigues, boarded the bus at five in the morning when the Himachal Roadways bus entered J&K," Dhumal told rediff.com from his residence in Shimla.

However, he could not give the exact number of terrorists who had boarded the bus.

Witnesses at Kalochak have said that the terrorists first fired indiscriminately at the passengers before turning their attention to the army camp.

"Seven passengers were killed in the attack. We have rushed senior police and administrative officials to the spot to provide relief to the remaining passengers," he said.

"Our police personnel will assist their J&K counterparts in the investigation into the incident," he added.

The state government has placed its police on high alert, he said.
