Christina Rocca arrives in New Delhi

The US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, Christina Rocca, arrived in New Delhi on Monday night for a day's visit mainly aimed at promoting a dialogue between India and Pakistan.

Rocca's visit takes place amid concerns in Washington of an Indo-Pak limited military engagement.

Rocca, who flies to Islamabad from New Delhi, is expected to call on External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh, Defence Minister George Fernandes and National Security Advisor Brajesh Mishra on Tuesday.

The US official will also have a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi besides holding extensive parleys with her principal interlocutor and counterpart Jayant Prasad, Joint Secretary in the MEA.
