Soren among 90 aspirants in by-polls
to three LS, 11 assembly seats

Rajya Sabha member and Jharkahnd Mukti Morcha (Soren) chief Sibu Soren was among over 90 candidates who filed their papers on the last day of filing nominations for the May 31 by-elections to three Lok Sabha and 11 assembly seats spread across seven states.

Soren and 14 others are in the race for the Dumka Lok Sabha seat in Jharkhand, election to which has been necessitated by the resignation of Chief Minister Babulal Marandi following his election to the Jharkhand assembly.

By-elections to Lok Sabha seats are also being held in Ambalapuram in Andhra Pradesh, where late G M C Balayogi's wife is in the fray, and Akbarpur in Uttar Pradesh.

In Tamil Nadu three assembly constituencies -- Saidapet, Acharapakkam and Vaniyambadi -- are going to the polls.

Other assembly seats going to the polls are: Beheri, Jahangirganj and Dabai in Uttar Pradesh, Danapur (Bihar), Narasimharaja (Karnataka), Jalgaon (Maharashtra), Bhadrak (Orissa) and Onda (West Bengal).
