Congress MP surrenders in murder case

Congress MP Rajo Singh, who was evading arrest for four-and-a-half months, on Saturday surrendered in Sheikhpura, Bihar.

He was wanted in connection with the killing of nine Rashtriya Janata Dal activists on December 26, 2001.

Singh was produced before the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate in-charge Piyush Kamal Dixit, who remanded him to judicial custody till May 24.

Singh's son and former Bihar minister Sanjay Singh, MLA, his relatives Krishnandan Singh, Arun Singh, Mrityunjay Singh, Diwakar Singh, Uday Shanker Singh, Kanhaiya Singh, besides Banke Singh, Shyamnandan Singh and Brijnandan Singh are already in judicial custody.

Police had submitted charge sheets against all the 11 accused in the case in the first week of March and prayed for declaring Rajo Singh an absconder.

The Patna high court had, earlier this month, rejected the anticipatory bail petition of Rajo Singh.
