Assam not to implement POTA: Gogoi

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday said his government would not implement the Prevention of Terrorism Act, as the existing laws were sufficient to handle the problem of insurgency in the state.

"There were enough laws to deal with terrorists... POTA was not required," he said in Guwahati.

The chief minister said he had raised objections to the act from the very beginning.
