Officials responsible for Gangapur police firing removed

The Rajasthan government removed a sub-divisional officer and a deputy superintendent of police from their postings in the troubled town of Gangapur city in the wake of the police firing on Monday that claimed three lives, an official said on Wednesday.

The next posting for the SDO Avdesh Singh and DSP Laxminarayan has been kept in abeyance, the official added.

Meanwhile, curfew relaxation from 0900-1200 hours in Gangapur passed off peacefully, the police said, adding 33 miscreants were arrested so far in connection with the violence in the city.

Fifty-six others were also arrested from Lambiya in Pali district, which also witnessed communal tension on Monday, the police said.
