POTA not to be used in Punjab: Amarinder

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Wednesday said that the Prevention Of Terrorism Act would not be used in the state.

"We are not going to use POTA since Punjab is a peaceful state. Moreover, there are no terrorist activities prevailing in the state. One thing is very clear. The Congress is totally against POTA," he said.

The chief minister said his government was committed to eradicate the menace of corruption.

On setting up of a judicial commission to probe the allegations of corruption against the previous Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party government, he said: "Let us give some more time to get fully prepared before setting up such a commission."
