One Indian killed, ten missing in
Dubai dry dock accident

An Indian was among eight workers killed when sea water gushed into a Dubai dry on Wednesday.

The Indian was identified as Alex, a native of Kerala. His body has been kept in a local hospital.

Unofficial sources said of the 31 people missing, 10 were from India.

"Eight workers are known to have died in the incident and 31 are presently unaccounted for," a statement issued by K T Burgess, chief executive of the dry docks, said.

A large part of the 4000-strong workforce of the dry docks, one of the world's biggest ship repair facilities, is from India and other Asian countries.
