Tension prevails in curfew-bound Gangapur

An indefinite curfew clamped in Gangapur city of Sawai Madhopur district in the wake of killing of three persons in police firing on Monday continued with tension still gripping the township on Tuesday.

Activists of Hindu organisations staged a dharna outside collectorate in the curfew-bound town in protest of the police firing, official reports said.

Meanwhile, secondary school examinations scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday have also been postponed, an official spokesman said.

Tension also prevailed in Lamba Village in Pali district on Tuesday, where police resorted to lathi-charge and bursting of tear gas shells to disperse a violent mob on Monday, a report from Jodhpur said.
