Kishore denies VHP hand in Orissa assembly attack

Giridhar Gopal in Bhubaneswar

Acharya Giriraj Kishore, international vice president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, said on Tuesday that activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal were not involved in the attack on Orissa assembly on March 15.

"It was the handiwork of pseudo-secularists to defame VHP and Bajrang Dal," Kishore said.

The people who stormed the assembly and attacked the legislatures were not VHP men, he said.

He claimed that the attack on the assembly was 'planned' and alleged that the police did not take action against the 'real culprits'.

He alleged that the police arrested innocent VHP and Bajrang Dal activists and made false charges against them.

"The police have registered cases of attempt to murder, looting, and made several criminal charges against them," he claimed.
