PM rules out withdrawal of forces from border

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Monday ruled out withdrawal of forces from the Indo-Pak border and said a Islamabad was yet to create a conducive atmosphere for resumption of bilateral dialogue.

At the same time, the prime minister also allayed fears that the tension could trigger a nuclear war. "There is no threat of such a war. However, we are prepared for any eventuality," he told mediapersons in Shimla (Himachal Pradesh).

India has already declared that it would not be the first to use nuclear weapons, he pointed out.

Asked about the possibility of resumption of a dialogue, Vajpayee said, "We will talk only when a conducive atmosphere is created. Every day there is violence, jawans and civilians are being targeted."
