Seven private buses set on fire in Baroda

A mob set on fire seven private buses in Pipaliya village of Baroda district on Saturday night, police said.

The mob asked all passengers to alight before torching the buses, they said.

Nobody was injured in the incident, the police said, adding that a fire brigade immediately rushed to the spot.

A food joint and a public call office were also set on fire at Syedvana Tandalja road and Laxmipura area respectively, the police said.

Meanwhile, one person, who was stabbed at the Kagadapith police station area on March 19, died, even as curfew was imposed in one area of the walled city following incidents of arson on Saturday night.

The police burst teargas shells to scare away a mob in Raykhat locality of Haveli police station area on Saturday evening.

Indefinite curfew was imposed from 6 pm in the area for the third time, as tension mounted.
