Jaitley confident that POT Bill will be passed

Union Law Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday expressed confidence that the Prevention of Terrorism Bill will be passed in the joint sitting of Parliament, convened on March 26.

"I am confident that the bill be passed in the joint sitting of Parliament," Jaitley said.

On some states, including Madhya Pradesh, reportedly stating they would not implement the anti-terror bill even if it is passed in the joint sitting, Jaitley said, "There is something called the Constitution of India. People are free to express their views, but in the end the Constitution must prevail."

On the opposition and some other National Democratic Alliance allies expressing fears on the misuse of the provisions of anti-terror bill, the law minister said that it had been used earlier in some cases where it was not misused.
