The Delhi police said on Thursday that investigations into the death of Natasha Singh -- daughter-in-law of senior Congress leader K Natwar Singh -- had picked up momentum, but refused to divulge the details of the probe.
Natasha Singh's body was found on the first floor terrace of hotel Hyatt Regency on Sunday.
"We began investigations on Wednesday after two the post-mortems had been performed. We are in the thick of the investigations and it would not be proper to say anything right now," the Joint Commissioner of Southern Range, Satish Chander, told rediff.com
The police had on Wednesday recorded the statement of Jagat Singh, husband of Natasha Singh and also talked to her brothers Sharif and Ashraf.
Just before her death, Natasha Singh had sent SMS messages to a few friends. The police questioned them at the R K Puram station.
Those who appeared included Sonia Verma, journalist and television anchor of New Delhi Television, Deborah Malik, Andaleeb Sehgal, Vishal Chawla and two maids from her Greater Kailash residence.
The police also searched Natasha Singh's house and found her personal dairy.
A former director of the Central Bureau of Investigation, who did not wish to be quoted, told rediff.com that it was a simple matter of suicide and should be closed after proper investigations.
"The trouble with the elite society is that even a small grudge is blown out of proportion and seen as something big. Since they have nothing else to do, therefore, they continue to brood over what is trifle and should have been ignored," he said.
