Eleven members of the banned National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak/Muivah were killed in an encounter with India Reserve Battalion personnel at Pallel area in Manipur's Chandel district, official sources said on Monday.
Sources said that the incident took place on Sunday evening when the IRB personnel deployed at Molnoi outpost near Pallel, about 45 km southeast of state capital Imphal, stopped a mini truck that was proceeding towards the capital.
As soon as the truck stopped well-armed NSCN-IM activists opened fire at the IRB personnel from inside the truck, the sources said.
All the 11 NSCN-IM members inside the truck were killed in retaliatory fire, the sources said.
