Sikkim HC judge commits suicide

Sikkim high court judge and former advocate general of the state Anup Deb committed suicide at his official residence in Gangtok on Tuesday night, police said.

Justice Deb, who was not keeping well for sometime, said in his suicide note that he could not bear his illness anymore.

His family members were not present when he ended his life by hanging himself, police said.

Justice Deb, 59, is survived by wife, two daughters and a son.

The high court and all lower courts in the state remained closed on Wednesday as a mark of respect.
