G Siddharth Reddy, boyfriend of Telugu film actress Pratyusha who died under suspicious circumstances on February 24, has been remanded to judicial custody till March 25.
Siddharth Reddy, who was arrested by Crime Investigation Department on March 9, was produced in the court of metropolitan magistrate N Ananda Rao on Monday.
The magistrate remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.
The 22-year-old Siddharth Reddy, who allegedly consumed poison along with Pratyusha and survived the suicide attempt, while the actress died, faces a criminal case on three counts.
He has been charged under sections 309 (attempt to commit suicide), 306 (abetment to suicide) and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
The murder charge has been retained since the report of a three-member committee of forensic experts is awaited.
These experts have been asked to review the post-mortem report on Pratyusha of Gandhi Hospital doctors, who said that it was a case of rape-cum-murder.
Speaking briefly to newsmen at the court complex, Siddharth said that he and Pratyusha were in love for the last six years.
On February 23, they decided to end their lives as his parents had once rejected his proposal for marrying the 20-year-old Pratyusha.
They consumed the pesticide nuvacron mixed in coke. Later, they rushed to CARE Hospital and got themselves admitted.
Siddharth pleaded ignorance about Pratyusha's death.
"No, I have no idea. Is she dead?" he asked in bewilderment, when told by newsmen that Pratyusha died in the hospital on February 24.
