Thirteen Sikh pilgrims, including six women, were killed and 28 injured when their bus returning from Hemkund Sahib fell into a ditch in Peny village near Joshimath area on Sunday.
The accident apparently occurred when the driver of the bus lost control on a bumpy road, SP, Chamoli, A K Tamta said.
The bus was carrying 41 pilgrims, all residents of Batala in Gurdaspur district of Punjab.
While nine of them died on the spot, four succumbed to injuries on their way to a hospital.
The driver of the bus Jagdish Singh, is among the dead.
