Close on the heels of the shoot-out involving Rashtriya Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad Yadav's younger brother Sukhdev Rai and others early this week, an RJD leader along with his relatives on Friday opened indiscriminate fire in New Market locality in Patna following an altercation.

City Superintendent of Police O N Bhaskar said that a former vice-president of Bihar RJD youth wing Nandu Yadav and his relatives opened fire after a verbal duel with a shopkeeper, who has a shop adjacent to Nandu Yadav's liquor vend and was expanding his boundary wall.

The firing caused panic in the locality in front of Patna railway junction with people running helter-skelter and a few of them getting injured in the melee.

Tension prevailed in the locality and a large contingent of police force has been deployed to maintain law and order, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station S S P Yadav said.

He said a FIR was registered and three brothers of Nandu Yadav were arrested while a hunt was on for the latter and two others who are absconding.

On Monday night, a case was registered against Sukhdeo Rai, his sons, Raju, Manoj, and son-in-law Daroga Rai, alleging they indulged in indiscriminate firing, vandalism and intimidation causing terror in front of a city businessman's house in Rajabazar locality.
