Entire Opposition walks out of Bihar assembly

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

The entire Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly walked out on Friday in protest against Rashtriya Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad Yadav's intrusion into Speaker Sadanand Singh's chamber in contravention of established rules and practices.

The Opposition members alleged that Yadav entered the speaker's chamber when a meeting was in progress.

Leader of the Opposition Sushil Kumar Modi charged Yadav, a former chief minister, with acting like an extra constitutional authority in Bihar.

Legislators belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Samata Party and Janata Dal, United, joined the walkout.
