Farooq hints at stepping down soon

A day after holding talks with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in New Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday hinted at stepping down from his post.

"This might be my last speech to you as a pro-chancellor," Abdullah told a gathering at the University of Kashmir in Srinagar.

"Time has come for me to go. I have to take a back seat," Abdullah said.

Abdullah had recently expressed his disappointment for not being considered for the post of vice-president.
