Bihar Assembly Speaker Sadanand Singh on Sunday denied the charge of rape against him and termed it as a 'conspiracy' to defame him and 'harass him mentally'.
"The rape charge levelled against me is nothing but a concocted story and well planned conspiracy to settle political scores with me," Singh said.
Singh said that it was beyond 'his imagination' that such a charge was levelled against him.
A dalit woman from Bhagalpur district, Reena Devi, has filed a complaint in Gopalpur police station last week levelling charges of gang rape against Singh, his brother Vivekananda Singh and others.
"I have information that the charge of rape against me is part of political gameplan of my rivals to mar my career," Singh said.
Singh said he was in politics for over three decades with a 'clean public image'.
He urged the leaders of all political parties as well as people in public life to think seriously about 'the baseless charge with political motive'.
Singh who earlier demanded a CBI probe into the charge, reiterated that he was ready for any probe.
