No differences with BJP, says Mayawati

Bahujan Samaj Party leader and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has dismissed reports of differences with coalition partner Bharatiya Janata Party in the state and blamed certain elements for 'conspiring' to drive a wedge between the two parties by using the media.

"There are no differences. No confrontation. Nothing of that sort," she told reporters on Friday night.

She said the media often 'twisted' reports and published 'concocted' stories at the behest of 'some elements' to create differences between the BSP and BJP.

"I have never said that BJP joined hands with BSP as it was its political compulsion and it had no other choice. Such reports are being published as part of a conspiracy," she said, but declined to reveal the conspirators.

To a question, Mayawati said the Uttar Pradesh government was 'very stable' and would complete its full term.

Her ministry, she said, would be expanded the moment she gets the list from BJP. "We have an understanding that 50 per cent of ministers will be from BSP and 50 per cent from BJP," she added.

On the issue of vice-presidential election, Mayawati said that BSP would support the NDA candidate for the post. "Whoever is the candidate, BSP will give full backing." On the split in BSP legislature party in Bihar, she said, "Whoever deserted her party, his political future would be doomed."
