Cholera threat in Baroda, alert sounded

The Vadodara Municipal Corporation has declared the city as cholera-threatened and disconnected 1300 water connections in Harni Sawad area on Friday after four cases of cholera were detected.

The epidemic had spread following contamination of water due to overlapping of drinking water and drainage lines, the civic body said on Saturday.

"Unwillingness of the residents in depositing the required money for changing of water pipelines in the area had aggravated the matter," it said.

Earlier, the residents had gheraoed Deputy Municipal Commissioner Jayant Kumar Sevak and other civic officials when they visited the area to ascertain the cause of the outbreak of the epidemic, it added.
