At least a dozen patients have died in the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in the last twenty-four hours following a strike by junior doctors to protest against the alleged 'misbehaviour' of relatives of a patient who died during treatment.
The police, however, said no FIR has been lodged in connection with any such incident.
The strike began on Wednesday evening, hospital sources said.
This is the second time in the recent past that junior doctors have gone on an indefinite strike demanding proper security.
Hospital Superintendent Dr A P Singh said no new patient could be admitted for treatment since Thursday.
He has written a letter to the district administration seeking help, he added.
The strike has posed numerous problems for poor patients thronging the hospital from rural areas.
Bihar Medical Education Minister Shakeel Ahmed has asked the hospital management to end the strike at the earliest.
