PPSC chairman Sidhu suspended

Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu was on Wednesday suspended as chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission, 69 days after his arrest for his alleged involvement in a cash-for-job scam.

Sidhu was arrested on March 25 while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 500,000 (Rs five lakh) from a job aspirant.

The arrest of the journalist-turned-PPSC chairman led to the exposure of a bribery scam in the Commission, which makes recommendations for selection to government jobs, including the Punjab Civil Services.
