Speaker urged to initiate action against NCP 'defectors'; another MLA proves elusive

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Wednesday said that the family members of the three NCP legislators who withdrew support to the Democratic Front (DF) government had told him that they were missing and urged him to trace them.

Talking to reporters in Mumbai, Bhujbal said the ruling Democratic Front had handed over a letter to the speaker urging him to take action against the 'defectors.

Meanwhile, sources in the Shiv Sena claimed that another NCP MLA Shirish Kotwal has withdrawn support to the government.

The NCP is holding a series of party meetings to take stock of the situation.

Bhujbal said the DF was yet to decide on the exact date when it would prove its majority.
