One dead, ten injured in gas leak

One person died and ten others were hospitalised, including one in a serious condition, due to gas leakage in the Hindustan Antibiotics plant in Pimpri, near Pune on Tuesday.

An official of Hindustan Antibiotics told PTI that the gas leakage occurred in the RPG life sciences section.

The victims were suffering from Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, according to a senior doctor at Niramay Hospital at Pimpri, where the affected persons were admitted.

The condition of one of the victims was stated to be serious, the doctor said.

"They will be kept under observation for 48 hours and if they show signs of improvement, we can think of discharging them," he added.
