Court refuses police permission
to search Vaiko's house

A Madurai court has refused to grant permission to the Q-Branch police to search the residential premises of MDMK leader Vaiko and other party functionaries in connection with the Prevention of Terrorism Act cases registered against them.

Police had sought permission from Thirumangalam Judicial Magistrate Venkatachalapathy to carry out the searches.

The Q-Branch police said it would now file an appeal before the special POTA court at Poonamallee near Chennai.

Vaiko and eight others, presently in prison, have been booked under POTA for allegedly making pro-Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam remarks.
