BJP rejects RSS demand for
trifurcation of J&K

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday ruled out trifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir as demanded by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and said there was no question of granting autonomy to the state.

Party chief M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters in Tiruchirappalli that the government could consider devolution of financial and administrative powers to the people of Leh, Ladakh and Jammu, but the trifurcation of the state was out of question.

He said the party holds an identical opinion on Pattali Makkal Katchi's demand for bifurcation of Tamil Nadu. "The BJP will never accept it," he said.

On Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's outburst on not being invited to the swearing in ceremony of President A P J Abdul Kalam, he said the issue was being blown out of proportion. "The suggestion that chief ministers be invited for such functions should be duly examined," he added.
