Bihar police bust sex racket in Red Cross building

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

The Bihar Police arrested five people when they busted a sex racket in the Red Cross building in the Biharsharif locality of Patna.

According to the superintendent of police (Nalanda district), Amit Lodha, the five were arrested after a tip-off about the flesh trade, which was going on for the last five years.

Lodha said the police party sent to raid the building found a man and woman in a compromising position.

This Red Cross building is located in a posh area adjacent to the Biharsharif circuit house, Sadar Hospital, the IMA building and residences of the superintendent of police and the district magistrate.

The arrested persons are Urmila Devi (45), a sweeper in the Red Cross building, Shobha Devi, a woman homeguard of Laheri police station, Rani, Shakuntala Devi and Akhilesh Prasad, a tea vendor.

In her confessional statement, Urmila said that she belongs to Parwalpur. She first claimed that Akhilesh was her husband, but later changed her statement. She said she had not been getting her salary for the last 36 months.
