Senior leader Madan Lal Khurana has been appointed head of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Delhi unit, party chief M Venkaiah Naidu announced on Friday.
He told reporters that Khurana, a Lok Sabha MP from Delhi who had also served as its chief minister, is a popular and experienced leader well conversant with the politics of the state.
Khurana is familiar with the problems being faced by Delhi having started his career from the corporator level, he said.
Naidu hoped that Khurana would lead the BJP to victory in the coming assembly polls.
He said that his own interaction with Khurana had convinced him that the latter would help the party surmount all problems and help it to recapture power in the union territory.
Moving on to other issues, Naidu refused to answer questions about senior party leader and former general secretary Govindacharya except assuring that he is still a member of the party that he is presently 'on study leave'.
