Panel asks Tehelka to produce cameras

In a significant order, the Venkataswami Commission on Thursday asked tehelka.com to produce before it the equipment, including cameras, used in the sting operation to expose corruption in defence deals.

The commission issued the directive after considering the demands made by former Samata party president Jaya Jaitly and some defence officials seeking a "close inspection" of the equipment used in the operation.

Tehelka counsel Kavin Gulati said the equipment would be produced only for a look and not for close inspection.
