Bomb scare in Canadian high commission

Onkar Singh in New Delhi

A bomb scare in the Canadian high commission on Thursday led the Delhi Police sleuths on a wild goose chase, finally prompting them to call off the search.

The high commission, however, has been closed for the day as a precautionary measure.

A senior police official told rediff.com that the Chanakyapuri police station received a telephone call in the morning saying that a bomb was planted in the embassy.

Senior police officials, along with the dog squad, rushed to the embassy to conduct combing operations, which did not yield anything, the official said. The search was eventually called off.
