Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha arrived in Colombo on Thursday on a two-day official visit to Sri Lanka.
Sinha is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, President Chandrika Kumaratunga and Foreign Minister Tyronne Fernando.
The Indian government has supported the Norwegian-backed peace process in Sri Lanka aimed at ending the country's 19-year-old ethnic conflict.
An Indian spokesperson said on Wednesday that the purpose of Sinha's visit was to enhance "good neighborliness" and to continue the ongoing economic interaction between the two countries.
