The order, which would come into effect on July 14, bars assembly of five or more people, picketing, carrying banners, placards, lathis, spears, swords, shouting slogans and speeches in the area without a written permission from an authorised police officer.
Police Commissioner R S Gupta said there were "reports that processions, demonstrations etc are likely to be held in the area, which could cause obstruction to traffic, disturbance to public tranquillity and threat to the security of the diplomatic missions".
The diplomatic enclave houses missions of various countries including the United States, Russia, Britain, Canada, China, Iraq and Pakistan.
A bomb scare was reported on Thursday at the Canadian High Commission, leading to evacuation of the mission and a thorough search.
Security in the area is already on a high state of alert since the September 11 attacks in the US.
