Advani takes charge of coal and mines ministry

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani on Tuesday assumed charge of the Coal and Mines Ministry.

Advani, who has been given the additional charge of the portfolio, was welcomed by Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Ravi Shankar Prasad.

The deputy prime minister, however, refused to take questions from the waiting reporters and said his visit to the ministry was aimed at familiarising himself with its working.

Senior officials and chiefs of various Public Sector Units under his ministry were introduced to him.
