The Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee on Tuesday decided to set up a 'special cell' to 'keep a check' on the Sikh literature being published.
"A lot of Sikh literature published these days is distorting the history of the Sikhs... a cell comprising Sikh scholars would study this literature and submit its report to the SGPC," SGPC president Kirpal Singh Badungar said after a meeting of the Dharam Prachar Committee in Chandigarh.
He said that the meeting also decided to constitute a five-member committee to study the grievances of Sikhs living outside Punjab.
Badungar said that another five-member committee has been constituted to make suggestions on issues pertaining to Sikh religion to the SGPC.
The meeting decided that all the seven Sikh missionary colleges in Punjab, run by the SGPC would have uniform syllabus.
Badungar said the SGPC was taking expert opinion of Justice (retd) Kulwant Singh Tiwana on the All India Gurudwara Draft Bill, 1999 before presenting it to the Centre.
The Bill would be discussed in the general house of the SGPC before being recommended to the Centre for passage, he said.
